PATHS (series) in progress
This series is inspired by meditative work on the 'Tree of Life' - a fundamental archetype in many of the world's mythological, religious, and philosophical traditions. Specifically, this series intuitively analyses the Kabbalic* Tree of Life - a diagram that consists of 10 nodes and 21 paths connecting them. A path being the representation of the subjective experience one undergoes in transferring consciousness from one state to another. Each work in this set corresponds to one of the nine paths at the lower part of the tree, which are referred to as the paths of personality - the paths that one travels to connect the lower self with the higher self.
*Contextualised by the global economic and social changes in the late twentieth century, contemporary Kabbalah could be described as a 'postmodern spirituality’, and although created by the Kabbalists, it is argued that the Tree of Life can be applied to all religions and esoteric teachings.
Dependent on, and contextualised by, the global economic and social changes in the late twentieth century, contemporary Kabbalah, New Age and other related new spiritual movements could be described as 'postmodern spiritualities’. The Kabbalistic 'Tree of Life' is considered to be a blueprint of the human being, a reflection of what happens inside oneself. Although created by the Kabbalists, it is argued that the tree of life can be applied to all religions and esoteric teachings.
This series is inspired by the thirty-two paths of the Tree of Life - each path being a subjective experience one undergoes in transferring consciousness from one state to another. The process of path-working - by which one traverses the paths - represents a complete exploration of the inner world of each of us.
