The installation creates the image.
I photographed a flower and projected the image onto a mirror.
I masked the mirror so that only the word ‘ego’ would reflect the light, so that 'the flower inside the ego' was projected in reverse onto the opposite wall.
I photographed the projection.
This photograph I reflected in a mirror and then photographed that which resulted in the final image.
In the centre of the image is a horizontal and vertical axis, crossing at the central point. I like to see this as the ‘being axis’ crossing the ‘time axis’ - the exact point when one is completely present and ‘conscious'.

If a video is created via a painting and an algorithm, or a painting is created from a computer generated video - is the human or the autonomous ‘machine' the artist?

Michel Serres the french philosopher stated that 'the world is ruled by flows—by turbulence, percolation, disorder, and uncertainty—rather than by linear progress or orderly systems'. But isn't it possible that those flows are ruled in turn by systems and linear progress? Which then of course are ruled by flows?
The original videos in this set of work were created with a sound input. I deconstructed them by dramatically decreasing the tempo and resolution so that one is confronted with the 'gridding' - the orderly system that is creating the illusion of flow.

Inorganic matter moves through the ecosystem when plants and animals decompose via ‘disturbances’ such as fire. Fire is the transformer of organic to inorganic, conscious to not conscious, and possibly in reverse from not conscious to conscious??
