PROTOCARNIVOROUS 38 second video
Some strains of the geranium are considered to be protocarnivorous - that is having the ability to trap and digest small insects on its leaves by dissolving proteins from them and absorbing the nitrogen, which helps it thrive in nutrient-poor environments. While often grown for their aesthetic appeal, some species of geraniums also offer humans edible flowers and leaves that can enhance culinary dishes.
