PAINTING VIDEO (in progress)
The idea of oil painting a video inspired this series - a retroversion of historical mediums in with a digital expression of nature is used as the subject from which to paint. Oil painting was often used as an observational technique, and in this case I am observing the natural world through a layered window of digital and analog techniques. I video the subject and then print a still from the video - which I then use to paint from. An analogical photograph is the registration of light. On the contrary, a digital photograph or video is constituted by numerical elements, pixels. Every pixel corresponds to a specific code, according to its place in the picture and its colour.
