The naming of the series obviously points to the fact the artist is blindfolded while speaking. More tellingly though it wants to point to the idea of ‘blind use of the fold’ (hence the words 'blind fold' rather than blindfold). In Thomas Nails' interpretation of Lucretius' philosophical poetry, nature which includes language and sound waves, are not divisions in being but rather flows and folds of matter in motion. This aspect of Lucretius philosophy, this way of thinking about words and language, was an important turning point in how I view my practice working with words as material. 'The Blind Fold' then is my methodology when writing poetry - I use blind intuition when engaging with the fold, flying blind while playing with words and language that according to the philosophy of Lucretius, are themselves a folding of the material flows of nature.
