WEAVER
My current artistic goal is to bring my poetic/philosophical writing to life via a digital persona which I call Weaver - which I see as a higher self through which to perform/become. Weaver could be thought of as a performance avatar, one that has the potential to be experienced through many screen based channels both recorded and live. Weaver endeavours to be one that influences and creates the social fabric - going beyond the warp and the weft to weave new more consciously evolved worlds - a visual and auditory celebration of the transformative power of poetry and of a non-anthropocentric future.

The visual aspect of Weaver is currently emerging and in development via a practice-based research project using the digital to shapeshift into another form. It requires that I acquire further technological skills to build and ‘embody’ the form of Weaver - researching the process technologically, but also psychologically and sociologically. I am working with contemporary technologies, artificial intelligences and not-so-new materialisms to bring Weaver to life.

Weaver as a concept arose from my research and thesis The Language of Birds and was, in it's inception, a virtual form made from the sound of a bird.
The work Know Nature uses this embryonic version, and saw Weaver perform the titular sound poem in a call and response rhythmic soundscape installation. I like to think of this work as the birth of Weaver as this was the first time I performed my words through them and was the first step towards my becoming Weaver.
