THE NATURE OF SELF
Sound Poem performed and recorded in London, 2024

Entry for the John Ruskin Prize 2026 'Truth in Making, Patience in Looking'
Closely observing the world with sincerity and humility for me entails also observing the inner world. I believe the truth of the nature of self holds great potential, aiding our ability to become spiritually connected to the truth of nature.
To translate my observations with more skill and integrity I use words as material. The practice of writing allows me to gain a closer connection with the natural world and at times I am permitted to glimpse, sense, the continuously expanding limits of nature.
My personal and ethical values are deeply entrenched in the creation of what my (inner) eye sees into art. I have a deep belief that the evolution of self is essential to solve the biggest challenges of our time - it could be the key to a more spiritually involved, inclusive world that is more aligned with the truth and intelligence of nature.
‘The Nature of Self’ is an exploration of the artistic process and the finding of the nature of one’s self through that process. It is a speaking portrait conveying a sound poem allowing the viewer to hopefully also reflect on the truth of the nature of themselves and their role within this world.
